This policy explains how Dragonfly ("I", "me") collects, uses and looks after your personal information when you visit this website or get in touch. I take your privacy seriously and only collect what I need.

Who I am

Dragonfly is the trading name of Dragonfly (Accounting & Financial Management) Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 09934254), run by Paul O'Brien and based in Fordham, Cambridgeshire. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Dragonfly (Accounting & Financial Management) Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZA363897.

Information I collect

• When you contact me by email or phone: your name, contact details and anything you choose to tell me, so I can respond to your enquiry.
• When you become a client: the information needed to provide tax and accountancy services to you. How this is handled is set out in my engagement letter.
• When you visit this website: if you accept analytics cookies, anonymous usage information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location and the type of device and browser you use.

How I use your information

I use your information to reply to enquiries, provide the services you ask for, meet my legal and professional obligations, and (with your consent) understand how the website is used so I can improve it.

The lawful bases I rely on are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and your consent for analytics cookies.

I will never sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. These cookies are only set if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

Your cookie choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the banner doesn't keep appearing. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings, which also appears at the bottom of every page.

Google processes analytics data on my behalf and may transfer it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. You can read more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Who I share information with

I only share your information where necessary, for example with HMRC, Companies House or the Charity Commission when acting on your behalf, with trusted software and IT providers that help me run my practice, or where I am required to by law or professional regulation.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as required by law and professional guidance, usually six years after our working relationship ends. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how I use it, ask for a copy to move elsewhere, and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, just email me.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please let me know first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
